Reportaje - Mesa artist expresses passion in many media

While working as a reporter at Downtown Sundevils, I focused primarily on community stories that highlighted local individuals making a difference. This story featured a Mesa-based artist who gives back to her community through her art.

She hosted a free exhibition as a way to thank the community, with a focus on representing both the positive and negative aspects of life in Phoenix. Her work aims to raise awareness about the issues people face, encouraging the community to recognize that, while life can be good, there is always room to help those in need.

This story allowed me to showcase my skills in community-focused reporting, highlighting local talent and the impact they have on their surroundings. I demonstrated my ability to craft a compelling narrative that goes beyond just the artist’s work, delving into the deeper messages behind the art and the artist’s motivation.

Through thoughtful interviews and a keen eye for capturing meaningful visuals, I portrayed the artist’s mission in a way that resonated with the audience.
